Two Providores is a family run business that is wholly Australian owned and managed. Our vision for the future is to help keep Australian producers producing. We want to hitch Australia’s small, sustainable producers with like-minded chefs by sharing their stories and produce. We place particular emphasis on customer service and education about the produce and producers we are working with, and we take our responsibility of supplying premium quality produce seriously.

About the Assassa family

The Assassa family have been wholesalers of local produce and dry-store products for over 45 years. In 1970, Sam Assassa had a dream to start his own smallgoods business. He converted his garage into a storage area & rolled around the eastern suburbs in his faithful Kombi delivering to his customers. His boys grew up learning from him and enjoying rides in this awesome car.

Today Adam and Kaleel have taken the business well beyond the garage but have always stayed true to their father's guiding principles of integrity and quality. Previously operating under Sydney City Foods, they made a conscious decision in 2012 to change their business strategy and focus on supporting Australian producers. With their strong logistics platform and approach to customer satisfaction already set, it just made sense to make Australian produce 'more accessible to everyone'. We made an aquisition in 2012 in order to allow them to hitch Australia's best artisan producers with the chefs they knew. It is their vision to help keep Australia's producers producing.  

Adam Assassa

Adam started delivering out of the family Kombi just after leaving school almost 24 years ago. His first day was so memorable all he wanted was a larger truck to pick up fresh produce and deliver it without having to reload, out of the garage again. Straight from the producer to store was the starting inspiration to grow and build a reputable food service business, making good food accessible to everyone. He strives on building a passionate team to help support a developing business with the utmost integrity. He is committed to running a successful, sustainable business that aids both our artisan producers, suppliers and food service customers. The constant evolution of our services, catering to the needs of both our suppliers and customers, is testament to this.

Kaleel Assassa

Kaleel oversees the strategic direction of the business and is keenly involved with maintaining producer relationships as well as ensuring product and service integrity. Kaleel is a hands on CEO and is just as likely to be found tinkering with the forklift as he is to be forecasting a purchase order. He has a keen interest in the way we manage our waste and our environmental footprint and is always working to implement best practice.  

Sally Gosper
General Manager

Sally is a passionate supporter of Australian produce. Sally has brokered relationships between some of Australia's best producers and chefs over her twenty-year career and knows the Sydney food scene very well. Sally embodies the Two Providores vision to keep Australian producers producing. 

Michelle Payne
Operations Manager

As Operations Manager, Michelle believes in team work and a can-do attitude. Michelle oversees our Food Safety procedures and HACCP certification. Her passion is ensuring our customer experience is seamless; providing both a great service and a great product to everyone.

Jim Buhr
Warehouse Manager

Jim fell into the wholesale food indsutry as a late teen, delivering high end goods (think caviar and saffron) in his home town of Brisbane. A working holiday in London saw Jim work at Neal's Yard, firmly establishing his love with cheese. Back in Australia he worked as a cheese buyer until he started working with Two Providores. Jim's enthusiasm for food and accuracy is evident in our sparkling warehouse, which has been described as 'impeccible' by visiting customers!

Erica Goldfinch
Produce Manager

Erica has over 25 years’ experience in the hospitality industry covering hotels, restaurants, bars and food retail. Erica is passionate about Australian produce and ensuring that quality Australian products are accessible for everyone. Outside of work Erica spends her time working in her kitchen garden and touring regional NSW meeting farmers and producers.

Andrew Bennett
Purchasing Manager

Andrew comes from the bush and moved to Sydney to study Supply Chain Management and Logistics. A part time job in a pizza shop transformed into running operations for a large QSR franchise business in Australia, New Zealand, Singapore and the USA. Andrew has 7 years’ experience in operations and procurement in the QSR industry where he developed a passion for connecting product with people. He is committed to servicing our customers’ needs and requirements. 

David Fisher
Customer Service Team Leader

Dave has over 10 years experience working for QSR in the fast food sector which laid the foundations for his unwavering commitment to customer service. After moving into Warehouse Management for a wholesale food company, Dave began working at Two Providores to pair the best food in Australia with excellent customer experiences. Dave loves imparting his food knowledge onto his team and particularly enjoys product tastings - don't we all! 

Georgie Moore
Accounts Team Leader

From a young age, Georgie has worked in hosptality for some of Sydney's best restaurants, cafes and bars. Georgie is drawn to businesses that are ethical and sustainable and on the weekend she keeps the connection with her local community when she works at the Eveligh food markets. As our Accounts Team Leader, Georgie establishes and maintains the same legendary Two Providores service you receive in your food service with finance service.

Cameron Coombs
Account Manager

Cameron has worked as a chef for 17 years across all facests of hospitality - hotels, cafes & restaurants. Cameron came to learn of Two Providores and their artisan offering when he was a customer of ours.  Keen to stay close to the grit and grind of the kitchen, Cameron seamlessly transitioned into our Customer Service team, until a short time after he was promoted an Account Manager for our newly created West run.

Imilla Morales
Account Manager

With over 18 years’ experience in the food industry, Imilla has worked across many facets of the business. Her knowledge of artisan produce and her empathy and understanding of what occurs in the kitchen are two of the many reasons Imilla once lead our all-important customer service team.  As a result of this experience it was a natural progression into an account management role. 

Martin Steel
Retail Account Manager

Martin has a wealth of experience working in retail sales that spans 16 years including 7 years in the food industry and almost 2 years at Two Providores.  Martin has served some of Australia’s best retail food outlets in Sydney, Coastal and Regional NSW, Canberra, Melbourne, Regional VIC, Perth and Regional WA. 
Martin is passionate about healthy eating and is always on top of the latest healthy eating trends. Martin is constantly looking at labels and ingredients and living for the macros, which is then equally balanced out with his unhealthy obsession with cheese.

Peter Vickery
Account Manager

Even as a small child, Peter has been immersed in cooking, for family and friends, in share houses as a student and on into later life. He's always been the designated chef. A successful stint on a food-based reality tv show, combined with a weekly segment “The Vicar of Nibbly” on ABC 1233 Newcastle, has empowered his food career. He's excited to get stuck in and find the right products for his customers. 

Vanna Pho
Account Manager

Food, glorious food, has always been a passion for Vanna. Eager to discover food that is prepared from the heart led to a post graduate Diploma in Nutrition. Vanna was promoted from our Customer Service team and enjoys looking after our customers on our South run.

Will Tuckfield
Account Manager

Will has been working in food since 1986, covering all areas including production, wholesale, distribution and retailing.  25 years at Kirk Food gave Will the opportunity to expand into a National Sales Manager role supplying major retail chains, airlines, hotels and caterers.  Will has been at Two Providores since the start of 2018 and is very much enjoying the focus on local artisan producers, especially the cheese!

Ashley Scott
Human Resources

Ashley wasted no time in getting his degree in Business Management (Human Resources) straight after school. Upon graduating, Ashley began managing restaurants, including the multi-award winning Quay for ten years. When the HR position came up at Two Providores, Ashley jumped at the opportunity to combine his degree in HR with his passion for Australian artisan produce and people management. A role he describes as the perfect fit.
